Goal
To enhance the current user experience for users to navigate around the organization chart.
Problem
Based on feedback from our clients who interact regularly with our Client success team, we found that certain functions in our organization chart to be inefficient. We also found that our users would like to be able to perform more task but our functions are limited.
Some of the challenges they faced are:
Profile view forces users to exit current screen
Understanding the linear management
Searching for an employee
Search result is not obvious
Design looks outdated
Strategy
Revamp the entire organization chart to enhance the user experience and solve the problems that users are facing.
Current Feature
The visuals does not look contemporary and there are limited functions that users can perform here.
The biggest drawback is that when users want to access an employee’s profile from the organization chart, they will be redirected to a different page. We received feedback that our users would like to remain on the same page while accessing an employee’s profile.
Users would also like to be able to search for employees and departments through filters which our current platform does not have.
New Organization Chart
The new concept would allow users to perform task such as:
Filter and search via department
Double click arrow that allows users to quick view the entire team (limited to three levels as our system has it’s limitations)
View an employee’s profile without being directed to a different page
Adjust level limits for department view
Users will also be able to view an employee’s direct linear hierarchy.


Users can look at an employee's profile and activity through a side drawer


Users can easily search for an employee and position (as our current feature does not allow that)

Users will be able to view a specific department using the department filter.
